New Wave Media heads to Vancouver 2010 Olympics
On February 19th the New Wave Media team headed west to Vancouver, British Columbia feeling the high pride of the Canadian spirit.
The sights on the way to Vancouver are gorgeous and the sunsets are stunning. Arriving in Vancouver was extremely exciting as the streets were filled with people of all ages and nationalities.
The team arrived downtown through the scenic skytrain and headed straight to see the historic site of the Olympic cauldron (torch). The atmosphere that surrounded the city was like nothing we've ever felt before. The cheering and the chanting could be heard from several blocks away.
All of us here at NWM are HUGE fans of hockey, so naturally we looked for a pub that was playing the Canada vs. USA preliminary game. The pub was full and only standing room was available. It was a little bit of a disappointment but we could only blame ourselves as the day escaped from us and we showed up only an hour before the puck drop. An even bigger let down was the way our men played against the United States. However; with this being said, when we meet again in the GOLD medal game, it will be the perfect reason for redemption. Along with redemption, Canadian pride all riding on this game there is also the pressure of a united nation to keep the name hockey as Canada's game.
We are all looking forward to the men's hockey GOLD medal game that will be a guaranteed "edge of your seat" type of game.
Heading home was a sad feeling as it felt like we were leaving the epicenter from a place where Canadian dreams come true. It's been an amazing journey over the past 17 days and all Canadians should be proud to know that this was the year that no other country hosting the Olympics has brought home more gold medals than here in Vancouver in the year 2010. Something we will surely never forget as we head back to the office to resume our work as usual.
